Wisdom Gleaned in the Chaos: Navigating December 2023

So here we are, navigating through December, the final stretch of this wild ride called 2023. Life has been lifing pretty hard lately. For the longest time, I thought I had it all figured out - who I was, where I wanted to go, and how I'd get there. But, truth be told, I was deep into a ritual called 'fake it until you make it.' And you know what? Being a bit delulu got me to the point of writing this blog post for you guys, so I guess it can't be all that bad. Recently, though, I hit a point where it felt like I needed to have everything together. I mean, I'm 26, and according to the rest of the world, I should be thriving with a stable job, a family, marriage, and maybe a dog to flaunt on Instagram. But guess what? I'm not quite there yet.

The Illusion of Having It All Figured Out

For the longest time, it felt like I was running barefoot, walking without a clear direction, all while keeping a socially crafted destination in mind. The pressure to conform to societal expectations had me sprinting through life, trying to fit into a predetermined mould. At 26, the world expected stability. Yet, here I was, stumbling over the uneven terrain of life, realising that the destination I had in mind wasn't truly mine. It was a socially painted illusion that left me feeling lost and questioning if I had taken the right path.

Questioning the Norms and Offering Advice

Who says we have to achieve certain milestones by a specific age? It's a societal myth that I've debunked the hard way. Life isn't a race; it's a unique journey for each of us. The wisdom I've gathered whispers that it's perfectly okay not to have it all together at the age of 26. The script of life doesn't follow a rigid timeline. Your life is a movie with a script that's continuously being edited, drafted for extra revisions, and the ending? Only God knows. So, here's a question for you: Are you happy where you are, and what is it that you want from this thing called life?

In a world that often rushes to meet predetermined expectations, it's essential to recognise that societal norms don't dictate the rhythm of your journey. Life isn't a checklist; it's a canvas waiting for your unique strokes. The idea that we should all reach certain milestones by a specific age is an illusion that can stifle individuality and personal growth. Instead of conforming to societal pressures, embrace the freedom to define your own pace and trajectory.

Embracing Wisdom in the Chaos

So, here's some hard-earned advice: Embrace the chaos, let life unfold, and be kind to yourself. Life doesn't follow a predetermined script; it's a journey of self-discovery. The wisest path is to take measured steps. Do not sprint when you can barely walk; it's a surefire way to trip over your own feet.

Now, back at my mum's place, the importance of taking those measured steps has become crystal clear. Life is not a sprint; attempting to run when you can barely walk will only lead to self-inflicted wounds. Do I regret the initial rush? No, because it brought me here, to an understanding that the gradual approach might just be the wisest way to navigate the unpredictable journey of life.

So, as you reflect on your own narrative, consider this: Life is an ever-evolving story, and you hold the pen. What chapters do you want to write, and what adventures await in the unwritten pages? It's never too late to redefine your script, chase your dreams, and discover the joys that lie beyond societal expectations. The journey is yours to shape, and the narrative is yours to create. So, are you ready to write the next chapter of your extraordinary tale?
